Core Principles

  • Police provide an essential service in maintaining the safety of our community
  • "Community policing" provides the greatest level of safety for both citizens and officers 
  • Community policing works best when police and citizens interact face-to-face, collaborate on community projects, and partner in law enforcement

  • Work session dedicated to developing and implementing best practices for community policing with Chief of Police

Long Term Goals

  • Encouraging, supporting, and training voluntary, citizen-driven “watch” groups
  • Maintaining the strong relationship and mutual respect between law enforcement and citizenry
  • Working closely with partners to identify opportunities to enhance community programming that focus on youth development and civic engagement
